A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed nine leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami including its Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar on a 4-day remand each in a case filed under Anti-Terrorism Act, reports media.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Mahmuda Akter passed the order after police produced them before the court seeking 10-day remand for each.
The case was filed at Vatara Police Station in the capital this morning.
Earlier, police arrested them from a house at Vatara on Monday evening while they were holding a meeting to hatch a conspiracy against the state.
The other leaders who were remanded are assistant Secretary Generals of the party central committee Rafiqul Islam Khan and Hamidur Rahman Azad and its members Abdur Rob, Professor Izzat Ullah and Mobarrak Hossain and former President of Islami Chhatra Shibir Yasin Arafat.
