Mohammad Rassel, CEO of the controversial e-commerce platform, Evaly planned to sell it to an international or a big domestic organization with liability. Otherwise, it would be declared bankrupt.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of RAB's legal and media wing, made the comment in a press briefing on Friday after the primary interrogation.
According to RAB, the total liabilities of the company are over Tk 1,000 crore and Rassel consciously adopted a negative strategy.
Evaly chooses products such as - Mobile, TV, Fridge, AC, Motorbike, Car, Household Products, Cosmetics, Package Tours, Hotel Booking, Jewellery, Healthcare Materials and Furniture etc. which are constantly in demand by the customers to increase the business sales. Discounts on these products create huge demand in the market that attract more customers, RAB said in the briefing.
Earlier on Thursday, RAB arrested Evaly CEO Md Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, chairman of the e-commerce platform from their residence at the capital’s Mohammadpur after a customer filed a fraud case against the duo with Gulshan police station in the morning.
