The High Court
has banned the sale and transfer of all types of Evaly’s assets. At the same
time, the court issued a rule asking why Evaly would not be liquidated.
The single
company bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order on
Wednesday (September 22nd).
Meanwhile, two
Supreme Court lawyers, Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab and Mohammad
Kawser, today filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking directions for a
judicial inquiry into the fraud, embezzlement and money laundering of
e-commerce companies. The writ petition seeks directions to refund the damaged
customers.
The writ
petition has named the Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Secretary of the
Ministry of Finance, Secretary of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications,
Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Governor
of Bangladesh Bank, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue, Director General
of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate and Chairman of the
Competition Commission.
On the other
hand, a man named Md Mujahidur Rahman filed the case in the court of Dhaka
Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari against Evaly’s CEO Muhammad Russel
and his wife Shamima Nasrin (chairman of the company).
Later, the
court accepted the case and ordered Dhanmondi police station to accept it as a
FIR.
