The Met Office has asked the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to keep hoisted distant warning signal number two due to the cyclonic storm ‘Gulab’ in the Bay of Bengal, reports media.
The cyclonic storm over the northwest Bay and adjoining westcentral Bay moved westwards and now lies over the same area, Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in a special bulletin on Sunday morning.
Gulab was centred about 665km southwest of Chattogram port, 630km southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 525km south of Mongla port, and 530km south of Payra port at 6:00am, it said.
The cyclone is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction further.
