The High Court has summoned all the documents of
e-commerce company Evaly. The Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms has
been directed to submit these documents to the court by October 11.
The High Court bench headed by Justice Muhammad Khurshid
Alam Sarkar passed the order on Thursday (September 30) after hearing an appeal
in this regard.
Lawyer Syed Mahsib Hossain appeared for the court.
Earlier, the High Court on Wednesday (September 22) banned
the sale and transfer of all types of assets in Evaly following a hearing by a
customer. Lawyer Mahsib Hossain said that he has ordered to summon the
documents in continuation of the order.
The Governor of Bangladesh Bank, e-Cab, repeatedly
complained to the consumer rights as the customer did not get his product even
after five months of ordering it at Evaly. But as there was no remedy, a petition
was filed to the High Court seeking the termination of Evaly.
Following the hearing of the petition, the court banned
the sale and transfer of all assets of Evaly. At the same time, the court issued
a notice asking why Evaly would not be terminated.
In the petition, Evaly Limited, Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, Consumer Rights Protection Bureau, Cash, Development, Bangladesh Competition Commission, E-Cab e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh, BASIS, Bangladesh Bank and Commerce Secretary were showed as the defendants.
