The bodies of five people have been recovered till the last news of the sinking of a passenger boat on the Turag river in the capital's Aminbazar. Three of them have been identified.

Dewan Mohammad, duty officer at the fire service headquarters, told the media on Saturday (October 9) afternoon.

He said the bodies of five people have been recovered after the boat capsized in the sand-carrying bulkhead on the Turag River. The identities of the three of them matched. The names of the other two are yet to know.

Those who have been identified are Shiuli Akhter (20) and her son Mo Yasin (3). The other identified child is Arman (4).

It is learned that Shiuli's husband's name is Mohammad Quader Mia. Their village home is in the Sunamganj district of Sylhet.

According to the fire service, the divers of the fire service are conducting rescue work to rescue the missing persons.

Earlier, at around 5.30 am, the workers' boat sank when it was hit by a sand-carrying bulkhead on its way from Aminbazar to Gabtali in the capital.
