Accused Bhola Gives Confessional Statement in Mitu Murder Case || Photo: Collected
Ehteshamul Haque alias Bhola, accused in the murder case of
Mahmuda Akhter Mitu, wife of former Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akhter,
has given a confessional statement under Section 164 in the court.
He testified in the court of Chattogram Metropolitan
Magistrate M Shafi Uddin on Saturday (October 23) afternoon. The matter has
been confirmed by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Chattogram
Superintendent of Police Naima Sultana. She said Bhola was taken to court after
his arrest. Bhola has given a statement under section 164 in the court.
Superintendent of Police Naima Sultana, however, did not say
anything about what Bhola said in his statement. Bhola was sent to jail after
his testimony.
Bhola was arrested from Benapole and brought to Chattogram
on Saturday. The investigating officer in the Mitu murder case, PBI inspector
Santosh Kumar Chakma, said Bhola was the accused in the case filed by his
father in the Mitu murder case. He was arrested from Benapole area on Friday
night. He was brought to Chattogram.
According to PBI sources, Bhola was trying to flee to India
through Benapole. However, he was arrested earlier.
On June 5, 2016, Mitu was shot and stabbed to death on the
way to pick up her son from a school bus on OR Nizam Road in Chattogram city.
Later, SP Babul lodged a case against unidentified people
with the Panchlaish Police Station in Chattogram in this connection.
Ehteshamul Haque Bhola, a resident of Bakalia area in the
city, and his associate Monir were arrested in the lawsuit in the same year.
