Covid-19: Bangladesh Logs 6 More Deaths, 276 Cases

Bangladesh logged 6 new coronavirus-related deaths and 276 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00 am on Tuesday.

The positivity rate rose to 1.44 percent from Monday’s 1.39 percent.

With this, the daily infection rate in the country remained below 5 percent for more than five weeks.

In Bangladesh, the daily-case positivity rate reached its peak of 32.55 percent on July 24 this year.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,68,257 and the total fatalities at 27,834 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 19,148 samples at 833 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,02,62,107 samples.

Meanwhile, 440 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,32,180.

Among the fresh fatalities, five were males and one were females.

Chattogram, and Khulna divisions logged the highest deaths with two fatalities each; followed by Rajshahi, and Sylhet division logged one each.

Dhaka, Barishal, Rangpur and Mynmansing, divisions reported no new deaths.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 244,167,445 and the death toll to 4,958,206 till Tuesday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
