Govt Extends Shafiqul Islam’s Tenure As DMP Chief

The government has extended Shafiqul Islam’s tenure as chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on a contract basis for another year, reports media.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification, signed by its Deputy Secretary Oliur Rahman, on Thursday confirming his contractual reappointment.

As per Section 49 of the Public Service Act 2018, Shafiqul's post-retirement leave and related benefits have been suspended. He has been appointed as DMP chief for a period of one year from October 30, the circular added.
