DMP Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul
Islam said, "No case can be filed against the driver if he has an acknowledging
receipt before getting the smart card license from BRTA."
He was responding to
reporters' questions when he came to the BRTA office in the capital's Mirpur on
Monday (November 1) at noon to apply for his license.
He said no traffic sergeant
could sue on the basis of an acknowledging receipt for a license. DMP has been
instructed in this regard. Even then, if a traffic member fines or sues
someone, action will be taken against him on the basis of evidence.
The DMP commissioner said, "This
is a complication of the licensing authority, not the driver’s liability. So he
(the driver) is being exempted. And if anyone has fined him on this occasion,
it is unfair."
