A court has
remanded four people, including Iqbal Hossain, the main accused in the case of placing
the Holy Quran in a puja mandapa in Cumilla, for three days.
Judge Chandan Kanti
Nath of Cumilla Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court No. 1 passed the order at 4 pm
on Wednesday (November 3).
The accused in the
remand are Iqbal, the main accused, Faisal, Humayun, two servants of the city's
Darogabari shrine, and Ikram, who called the emergency services number 999.
Lawyer APP Rafiqul
Islam Hira confirmed the matter.
He said the
investigating officer in the case, Iqbal and four others, wanted a five-day
remand. The court granted a 3-day remand. The CID asked the court for
permission to interrogate him in remand after 20 working days for review.
However, the judge rejected the application. The court ordered to send the
accused to jail if the remand failed to take effect from today.
CID Cumilla Region
Superintendent of Police Khan Mohammad Rezwan said the court had granted
four-day remand to four people, including Iqbal. However, it will take some
time to sort out the information given by the accused in the remand of the last
few days. We reviewed the interrogation in remand after 20 days before the
court. For now, they will be sent to jail.
