The
Association of Goods Transport and Public Transport Owners has announced an
indefinite halt to ply all types of vehicles from 8 am on Friday
(November 5th) in protest of the diesel price hike.
Bangladesh
Truck-Covered Van Owners Association General Secretary Hossain. Majumder
confirmed the matter to the media on Thursday (November 4th).
"It is
not possible to run our transport at the rate at which the price of diesel has
gone up," he said. There is no rationale to increase such prices in a
hurry.
According to
a source in the Transport Owners Association, the movement of goods has been stopped
in many places outside Dhaka. The transport strike is going to take effect
today with an official announcement.
