President of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association and Chief Whip of the Opposition in the National Assembly Moshiur Rahman Ranga said the ongoing transport strike is not theirs.

He said this while talking to reporters after visiting the shrine of Maulana Keramat Ali at Munsipara in Rangpur city on Saturday (November 6) evening.

Ranga said the ordinary owners had called the strike, not the Transport Owners' Association. Because Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation has unilaterally increased the price of diesel-kerosene overnight. '

Ranga said it would not be possible for ordinary owners to drive on pre-hired vehicles. "We have tried to prevent the strike," he said. Ordinary owners claim it is not possible to drive a car on previous rent.

"I don't know if the prime minister knows about raising the price of kerosene and diesel by Tk 15 per liter at the same time," he said. She is not in the country, we do not believe that the Prime Minister would have agreed to the sudden price increase. It is not right to increase the price of oil unilaterally without consulting us. There is decency, but BPC (Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation) did not even think about it.

He added that due to the sudden increase in the price of diesel and kerosene, the general owners are now saying that it will cost an extra 52 paisa per kilometer. Increasing the toll of Jamuna Bridge will increase the cost by about one thousand taka. Besides, toll is being collected on the road. There are owners, workers and people from different organizations, they also raise money.

Former state minister Ranga complained, ‘the impact of diesel price hike will be felt everywhere. The prices of all commodities including daily necessities will go up. Farmers irrigate the land with diesel, they will suffer.
