"After 72 hours, the police should not take any statement of a rape case," said Judge Begum, whose judiciary duty has been temporarily removed for such observation in the verdict of the rape case at Raintree Hotel.

The Supreme Court has asked the Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 Judge, Mosammat Kamrunnahar, not to sit in the court from Sunday morning.

The apex court came up with the instruction three days after the judge made a controversial observation while delivering verdict in Banani rape case.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain in consultation with senior justices of the Supreme Court took the decision, said Supreme Court spokesperson Mohammad Saifur Rahman in a press release.

The apex court also sent a letter to the law ministry seeking attachment of the judge to the Law and Justice Division after revoking her judicial power temporarily, it added.
