Watching Porn In Front Of Female Student: Young Man Lands Into Jail

A young man has been sentenced by a mobile court to three months in prison for watching a pornographic video in front of a university student on a moving Saudi bus. He was also fined Tk 10,000 and given one more month imprisonment for non-payment.

Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman handed down the sentence in a mobile court on Tuesday (November 16) morning.

The convict is Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, 28, son of Mohammad Abdur Rauf of Swajanshree village in Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj. He is a mason by profession.

According to police and mobile court sources, the victim is a fourth-year student of the university. He was coming to Sylhet on a bus of Saudia Paribahan (Chattogram Metro-Bo-11-1086) from Chattogram on Monday (November 15) night. Mahbubur Rahman was sitting in the B-4 seat of the bus. The student was sitting in the back seat. At one point, Mahbubur pulled the spring switch on his seat and leaned back. Later, he played pornographic videos on his mobile phone and showed it to the student for a long time. When the young woman protested, the seat was changed to another woman's seat after the argument.

Meanwhile, as soon as the bus reached Sherpur area of ​​Moulvibazar at 8:15 am on Tuesday (November 18), Mahbubur Rahman tried to get out of the car but the student stopped him. He wants the help of other passengers to keep him in the car to take legal action against the youth. At this time the commotion of the passengers inside the car started. Hearing their noise, Sergeant Mohammad Shiblu Mia of Sherpur Highway Police Station, who was on duty on the highway at night, went there. He hears the whole thing from the bus passenger and the harassed student.

He later informed the matter to Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Highway Police Station Nabir Hossain. The OC informed the matter to Sylhet Region Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Shahid Ullah. The OC took immediate legal action on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police.

Sherpur Highway Police Station OC Nabir Hossain said the matter was reported to Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) on the instructions of Highway Police Super Sir. Later, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman came to the spot. He heard the details and after finding out the truth of the incident, conducted a mobile court and sentenced the youth to imprisonment and fine.

Highway Police Sylhet Region Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shahid Ullah confirmed the information and said that it was possible to arrest and punish the talented youth because of the victim student. After the sentencing, the accused was sent to Moulvibazar Jail.

Moulvibazar Sadar Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman said that after coming to the spot and finding the truth of the incident on the basis of evidence, according to Section 4 of Pornography Control Act 2012/8, 3 months imprisonment without pay and 10 thousand taka fine, 1 month imprisonment without pay was given.
