The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has not found any
specific evidence as to who arrested and tortured the cartoonist Ahmed Kabir
Kishore. It was not possible to identify any accused involved in the incident.
There is no evidence that Kishore was physically and
mentally tortured in police custody after his arrest. However, on May 5 of that
year, the teenager was arrested from his home in a case under the Digital
Security Act, the PBI has received information about that.
This information was confirmed by Sheristadar Rashid of
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court on Wednesday (November 18).
He said the investigation officer of the case, PBI
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, had submitted a report in the
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court on October 17. A hearing on the report
will be held on November 24.
The cartoonist Kishore filed a case on March 14 against
unknown individuals under the Torture and Death in Custody Act for allegedly
carrying out 'torture in an unknown place' before being shown arrested after
being taken from his home.
In the report, the investigating officer of the case
mentioned that the allegation of physical abuse against 16-17 unidentified
persons in white clothes was not initially proved.
On March 20, a three-member medical board of Dhaka Medical
College Hospital (DMCH) examined Kishore's physical condition. They found
no sign of torture on his body.
