Bangladesh to Procure Two Helicopters from Russia

Bangladesh Police is set to procure two Mi-171A2 helicopters from Russia aiming to enhance capacity and skills of the law enforcement agency, reports media.

An agreement was signed between Bangladesh Police and JSC Russian Helicopters in this regard on Friday.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed and Managing Director of JSC Russian Helicopters Andrey Boginskiy signed the agreement, on behalf of their respective organisations.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexandar Mantytsky, Senior Secretary of Public Security Division Mostafa Kamal Uddin and other top officials from Bangladesh Police and JSC Russian Helicopters were present there, among others.

On October 28, the government decided to procure the Russian helicopters spending around Tk 428.12 crore to strengthen the capacity of the law enforcement agency.

The approval came from the 36th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) this year that was held virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
