Law
Minister Anisul Haq has said that BNP can bring in as many doctors as they
want from abroad for the treatment of their party chairperson Begum Khaleda
Zia. The government will not put a stopper on it.
He
said it was a matter of law to send Khaleda Zia abroad for treatment. As an
example of humanity, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done what is possible
under the law for Begum Khaleda Zia.
He
said this while participating in a virtual meeting of his constituency Akhaura
from his residence in the capital on Saturday (November 20).
Meanwhile,
the BNP is holding a mass hunger strike demanding the release of Khaleda Zia and
her treatment abroad.
In
such a situation, the law minister said, it should not be forgotten that
Khaleda Zia was convicted by the court of Bangladesh. A convicted person has
been given the benefits required by law. The BNP should also keep in mind that
the government will not do anything beyond what is in the law of the land.
He
said that if they think that doctors should be brought from abroad for Khaleda
Zia's treatment, they can. As many great doctors as they want to bring, can
bring; the government will not interfere in that.
Addressing
the leaders and workers at the extended meeting, Anisul Haq said no party
symbol boat will be given to anyone in Akhaura in the UP elections. However,
the election will be based on public support. Remember, the party is bigger
than the individual, the country is bigger than the party. He said elections
were held without party symbols so that people could vote for the candidate of
their choice. No chance of rigging will be given in the election. Strict action
will be taken if any chaos creates in the election center.
