The High Court of Bangladesh
ruled on Sunday that two siblings of an estranged marriage will remain in the
care of their Bangladeshi father, but their Japanese mother will be allowed to
visit the children in Bangladesh.
While the Japanese mother will
visit Bangladesh three times a year, the Bangladeshi father will be responsible
for her expenses.
Eriko Nakano filed a writ case in
Bangladesh on August 18 seeking custody of his two kids, and a court of Justice
M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman handed down the decision
after a lengthy hearing.
Eriko claims that Imran Sharif,
the Bangladeshi father of the two younger siblings, transported the children
from Japan to Bangladesh on February 18 without her permission.
The mother was not handed custody
of the two siblings because she was a Japanese citizen, according to the court.
The court noted that the decision
was made for the children's wellbeing and after speaking with them multiple
times.
