In
a recent cricket match against Pakistan, some Bangladeshis waved Pakistan's national
flag in the gallery of Sher-e Bangla Cricket Stadium. The issue is being
sharply criticized across the country, while some are indirectly supporting the
incident. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has expressed his concern
in this regard. He also said to take legal action.
The
minister made the remarks while handing over the jerseys of the Swadhin Bangla
Football Team to the Liberation War Museum authorities at the conference room
of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Sunday (November 21).
Responding
to a question from reporters, the Liberation War Minister said, "We will definitely
look into the matter. It's unfortunate if anyone does such a thing (waved
Pakistani Flag). Anyone can support a team. But for a patriotic citizen to
support another team on the day of a game with Bangladesh, it will definitely
not seem fair to anyone."
The
minister said the government would look into the matter and take legal action.
I do not know whether they are citizens of Bangladesh or not. We will look into
it.
At
the time, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, State Minister for Youth and
Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, Senior
Secretary for Youth and Sports Mohammad Akhtar Hossain and players of Swadhin
Bangla football team were present on the occasion.
