The government has fixed half fare (concessional) in certain conditions for the movement of students in BRTC buses across the country in accordance with the powers given under Section 34 (2) of the Road Transport Act-2018.

A notification to this effect was issued on Sunday (November 28) by the BRTA Establishment Branch of the Road Transport and Highways Department of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.

The circular was signed by Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges Mohammad Jasim Uddin.

According to the notification, this half fare (concessional fare) will be effective from December 1, 2021, in the public interest on BRTC buses. BRTC buses will be charged 50 percent less than the existing fare. During the trip, students must bring updated IDs with photographs issued by their respective educational institutions and display them if necessary. Students will have the opportunity to rent a half fare for BRTC buses from 7 am to 8 pm. This half fare will not be applicable on educational holidays.
