The
government has fixed half fare (concessional) in certain conditions for the
movement of students in BRTC buses across the country in accordance with the
powers given under Section 34 (2) of the Road Transport Act-2018.
A
notification to this effect was issued on Sunday (November 28) by the BRTA
Establishment Branch of the Road Transport and Highways Department of the
Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.
The
circular was signed by Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport
and Bridges Mohammad Jasim Uddin.
According
to the notification, this half fare (concessional fare) will be effective from
December 1, 2021, in the public interest on BRTC buses. BRTC buses will be
charged 50 percent less than the existing fare. During the trip, students must
bring updated IDs with photographs issued by their respective educational
institutions and display them if necessary. Students will have the opportunity
to rent a half fare for BRTC buses from 7 am to 8 pm. This half fare will not
be applicable on educational holidays.
