After 2 Children, Father Die Too in Munshiganj Gas Cylinder Blast

After his two children, a man, who along with his family sustained burn injuries from a fire triggered by a gas cylinder explosion at their house at Sadar Upazila in Munshiganj district on Thursday, have died, reports media.

Kawsar, 42, breathed his last at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute at about 7:00 am on Saturday.

Earlier, his son Yasin, 6, and daughter Fatema, 3, died at the institute on Thursday night.

The institute's resident surgeon Dr. SM Ayub Hossain confirmed the matter.

However, his wife Shanta, 38, were kept at the intensive care unit (ICU) in critical condition.

Some 54 percent of Kawsar's body was burnt while 48 percent of Shanta's body, Dr Ayub said.

A fire broke out on the first floor of a two-storey building at Char Muktarpur area following the cylinder explosion around 4:30 am on Thursday. All four members of the family were injured in the fire.

They were taken to Munshiganj General Hospital and, later, shifted to the burn institute.
