A person was killed during a clash between the families of a bride and groom at a Rohingya camp under Ukhiya Upazila in Cox's Bazar district on Saturday night, reports media.

The incident also left eight others injured. They were admitted to Upazila Health Complex. From there, four were shifted to Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila.

Deceased Mohammad Belal, 40, was the son of Abu Bakr, a resident of Balikhali No 9 Camp.

However, two people have been detained in connection with the incident, said Armed Police Battalion's commander superintendent Md Shihab Kaiser Khan.

Md Idris, son of Md Yunus, and Khaleda Bibi, daughter of Abdur Rahman, were in a relationship. Khaleda's family refused to marry her off to Idris.

She went to Idris' home five days ago. And after that, Idris’ father arranged the wedding on Saturday night.

Angered by the this, Khaleda's family attacked the wedding ceremony around 10pm that led to the clash.

Nine people were injured in the clash incident and were taken to the Ukhiya Upazila Health Complex where Belal succumbed to his injuries.
