AL Picks Candidates for DK, Mymensingh Divi UP Elections

The ruling Awami League has announced its candidate for the post of chairman of Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions in the fifth phase of the Union Parishad (UP) elections.

The list was published in a press release signed by the party's office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua on Saturday night (December 4).

Earlier, the candidates were finalized at a meeting of the Awami League's Local Government Representative Nomination Board at Ganobhaban, the official residence of the Prime Minister. The meeting was presided over by Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.

It may be mentioned that in the fifth phase 707 Union Parishad (UP) elections, polling will be held on January 5 next year. The last date for submission of nomination papers is December 7, selection of nomination papers is December 9, time for filing of appeals is December 10-12, time for disposal of appeals is December 13-14, withdrawal of nomination papers is December 15, allotment of symbols is December 17.
