Dr Murad Hasan
has been relieved of the post of Health and Population Secretary of Jamalpur
District Awami League for making indecent and unethical remarks. At the same
time, it has been decided to send a recommendation to the Center for his
expulsion from the party.
The decision was
taken unanimously at an emergency meeting of the district Awami League office
at 5 pm on Tuesday (December 6). District Awami League president Advocate Baki
Billah confirmed the matter to the media after the meeting. Local leaders
including district Awami League general secretary Faruk Ahmed Chowdhury are
present at the meeting. Dr. Murad Hasan was the Health and Population Secretary
of the District Awami League.
Earlier, the
district Awami League leaders held an emergency meeting at the district Awami
League office at 4 pm to take a decision on Dr Murad Hasan. The meeting was
attended by 55 out of 71 members of the district Awami League.
Earlier today, State
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Murad Hasan resigned citing
"personal reasons" following the PM's directive. The resignation
letter was sent to the office of the secretary of the Information Ministry via
e-mail on Tuesday.
At around 12
noon, Gias Uddin Ahmed, public relations officer of the state minister for
information, said that Murad Hasan is currently staying in Chattogram. The
resignation letter has been typed and sent to him from the office.
