Attempt to Rape, Murder Pori Moni: Court Accepts Chargesheet

A Dhaka court has accepted the chargesheet in a case, filed by Dhallywood actor Pori Moni over the rape and murder attempts on her, against three people including businessman Nasir U Mahmood and his associate Tuhin Siddiqui Omi, reports media. 

The other accused is Shah Shahidul Alam, who is shown as fugitive.

Judge Md Hemayet Uddin of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-9 of Dhaka passed the orders on Monday after scrutinising the case dockets.

Earlier in the day, the court rejected the no-confidence petition filed by Pori Moni against the probe report of Savar police station on December 1.

The judge issued arrest warrant against Shahihdul as he did not get bail from any court and fixed March 3, 2022 for the next hearing of the case.

On September 6, Inspector Md Kamal Hossain of Savar Model police station submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court of Dhaka.

Pori Moni filed the attempted rape and murder case with Savar police station against Nasir, also a real-estate businessman and presidium member of the Jatiya Party, Omi and four unidentified people on June 14.

The actor, whose real name is Shamsunnahar Srity, claimed that Nasir and Omi had wanted to rape and murder her when she visited Dhaka Boat Club on the night of June 8.

A team of detectives carried out a raid at a house in Uttara Sector-1 and arrested Nasir and Omi as soon as the case was filed.

They were also shown arrested under the Narcotics Control Act in another case filed with the Airport police station.
