Speaker Decides Whether Murad Remains on MP Post: HC

In the writ petition challenging the legitimacy of Murad Hasan's MP post, the High Court said that the decision on whether Murad Hasan will have an MP will be taken by the Speaker of the National Parliament. Anyone aggrieved can appeal to the Speaker challenging the validity of his MP position.

The High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman made the remarks on Monday (December 13).

The court later stayed the writ petition without any order. Advocate Yunus Ali Akand was in favor of the writ petition.

Earlier, a writ petition was filed challenging the legitimacy of the post of State Minister for Information Murad Hasan, who resigned on December 8. The writ petition has sought a judicial inquiry into Murad Hasan's activities. Supreme Court Advocate Yunus Ali Akand filed the writ petition in the public interest.
