Jhalakathi Fire: Avijan-10 Launch Owner Arrested

RAB has arrested launch owner Hamjalal Sheikh from Keraniganj in connection with the horrific fire and death of MV Abhiyan-10 launch on Sugandha river in Jhalokati. He was hiding in a relative's house there.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of the RAB's legal and media wing, confirmed the information on Monday (December 26).

An arrest warrant was issued against eight people, including four launch owners, in a case filed in a naval court over the launch fire. The warrant was issued by Joint District and Sessions Judge Zainab Begum at noon on Sunday (December 28).

Bellal Hossain, prosecuting officer of the shipping department, said the case was filed by Shafiqur Rahman, chief inspector of the department, at the shipping court at the shipping department on Sunday afternoon.

On the night of 23rd December, a terrible fire broke out in Barguna-bound launch MV Expedition-10 on Sugandha river in Jhalokati. So far 41 people have been killed in this incident. Of these, 36 are from Barguna. Hundreds of passengers were also injured and many were missing.
