The Anti-Corruption
Commission (ACC) has approved a charge sheet against Mohammad Shahid, owner of
the Regent Hospital, in a case of illegal acquisition of assets worth Tk 1.69
crore and non-submission of asset declaration.
ACC Deputy Director (Public
Relations) Muhammad Arif Sadeq said the charge sheet was approved at a
commission meeting on Wednesday (December 29).
The ACC investigation has
revealed that the chairman of Regent Hospital Mohammad Shahid did not submit
the statement of assets within the stipulated time and acquired movable assets
of Tk 1,69,17,513 which were inconsistent with the source of income.
Earlier, the ACC had
issued a notice to Shahid to submit his assets within 21 working days of
November 5, 2020. He was given another 15 working days as he did not submit it
on time. The ACC filed a case against him on January 1 this year after an
investigation into his failure to submit a statement of assets.
Later, the commission's
deputy director Mohammad Farid Ahmed Patwari investigated the case and recently
submitted a report to the ACC, which approved the charge sheet on Wednesday.
