The National Board of
Revenue (NBR) has extended the time for filing income tax returns by two more
days. Taxpayers will be able to file their income tax returns till January 2.
This information has been given
in a notification of NBR.
As 31 December, the last
day for filing returns, is a public holiday, this period has been extended to 2
January 2022 for individual taxpayers for the 2021-22 tax year.
The NBR's public relations
department said on Thursday (December 30) that the last date for filing income
tax returns of individual taxpayers for the 2021-22 tax year is January 2,
2022, as Friday, December 31, is a public holiday. Submit your income tax
return by January 2 to avoid fines. '
Earlier, November 30 was
the last day to submit returns. A large number of taxpayers could not submit
their income, expenditure and asset statements. As a result, the time was
extended to 31 December.
NBR First Secretary (Tax
Monitoring and Training) said. Muhtasibur Rahman Khan said, "In order to
give more taxpayers the opportunity to file their returns, we have extended the
deadline for filing returns till December 31." We want more taxpayers to
file returns online.
This is the second time
that the NBR has given taxpayers extra time to file their returns without
penalty.
