4 of The Same Family Killed in BRTC Bus-Autorickshaw Collision

Four members of the same family were killed in a collision between a BRTC bus and an autorickshaw in Cumilla's Laksam upazila.

The accident took place on Cumilla-Noakhali road in Kaliachau area of ​​the upazila around 8:30 am on Thursday (January 6).

The deceased were identified as Bahar Mia, 55, son of Siddiqur Rahman of Parati village in Bholain union of Lalmai upazila, his wife Parul Begum, 40, daughter Jannat Akter, 1, and mother-in-law Golap Nahar, 70.

Mainamati Highway Police Lalmai outpost SI said. Jasim Uddin has confirmed the matter.

Bahar's nephew Mir Hossain said the uncle was going to his uncle in law's funeral in Feni in an autorickshaw with his family members. On the way, an autorickshaw collided with a Dhaka-bound BRTC bus. Bahar and his mother-in-law Golap Nahar died on the spot. Later, his wife Parul and daughter Jannatul died on the way to Cumilla Medical College Hospital.

The bus and the autorickshaw involved in the accident were recovered, the SI said.
