School students between the ages of 12 and 17 will not be able to go to school unless they have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam told reporters at the secretariat after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday (January 6th).

He said the Ministry of Education has already been informed about this. The issue has been discussed on January 3, and the Education Minister has been asked in the cabinet meeting today. So far, the Ministry of Education must have given such instructions.

Last year, before the SSC exam, coronavirus vaccination was started for 12- to 17-year-olds in Dhaka. Vaccination for students of that age is expected to begin on a large scale across the country this month.

Meanwhile, children under the age of 12 are still not gone through the Covid-19 vaccination. Regarding their attendance at the school, the cabinet secretary said the decision was only for school children aged 12 to 17. Not such instructions for college or university students.
