4 Killed As Truck Rams Van in Kushtia

Four people, including a van driver, were killed and one seriously injured as  a truck smashed a van in Sadar Upazila of Kushtia. 

The accident took place on Kushtia-Jhenaidah road in front of Mandal Hotel in Battail Dakshinpara area of Sadar Upazila around 5:30 am on Monday (January 10).  

The deceased were identified as Muktar Hossain, 50, son of Hazel Hossain of Swastipur area of ​​Sadar upazila, Jasmine, 30, wife of Azizul Haque of the same area, Rozina Khatun, 28, daughter of Vadu Mollah of Haldarpara area of ​​Alampur and Swapna Rani, 45, wife of Manoranjan of Haldarpara.

Kushtia Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Idris Ali said a Jhenaidah-bound speeding truck leaving Kushtia hit a passenger van around 5:30 am. Four people were killed on the spot. Four bodies were later recovered and sent to the morgue. The driver of the truck escaped. However, the truck was seized by the police.

He further said that Tahmina Khatun, wife of Shariful of Baliapara village in Alampur union of Kushtia Sadar upazila has been admitted to Kushtia 250-bed general hospital in critical condition.
