50% Passengers on Trains Not from Jan 15: Minister

The decision to carry passengers at half capacity on trains will be informed soon, said Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan, reports media.  

"Bangladesh Railway has already sold tickets for January 13 (Thursday). So, it will not be possible to start carrying passengers at half capacity from that day," he said.

"No decision has yet been taken over the issue. We will hold a meeting and will inform you soon," he told this to media at a programme at Rail Bhaban in the capital on Tuesday.

To check the spread of Omicron variant across the country, the government has issued 11-point restrictions which will start from January 13.

The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday.
