Floating People Will Get Johnson & Johnson Vaccine: Health Min

Health Minister Zahid Maleque said floating people would also be vaccinated. They will be vaccinated by Johnson & Johnson. In this case, three lakh 36 thousand vaccines obtained from Covax will be used. Since Johnson's vaccine is given in one dose. So it is planned to give this vaccine to the floating people.

The minister was speaking at a press conference on the coronavirus vaccine and Covid-19 situation at the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) auditorium on Sunday (January 30th).

Zahid Maleque said that 15 crore 70 lakh vaccines have been given so far. 97 million people have come under the vaccine. Of those, more than 60 million people have been vaccinated with the second dose. Hopefully, it will be possible to bring 100 million people under vaccination by February 7. Besides, one crore 40 lakh vaccines have been given to the students of the school.

Despite the outbreak, UNICEF has demanded that the school be reopened in compliance with the health norms. Asked about this, the health minister said the government wants to open educational institutions keeping the students safe. It will depend on the situation. There is time till February 6. The decision will be announced after considering the situation.

Asked if there were plans to raise the age limit for vaccines to five years, he said talks had been held with the World Health Organization to lower the age limit to five. They will review and report. Upon receiving their message, the age limit for vaccination will be reduced to five years.
