Two Russian Nationals Die at Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project

Two Russian citizens died inside the Rooppur Nuclear Power plant in Ishwardi upazila of the district in the early hours of today.

The deceased were identified as Chukin Pavel, 59, mechanical engineer of sub-contractor company Trest Rossem, and Tolmasoff Vassiliev, 50, installer of another company SMU-1.

Both of them were residents of Green City Project, housing project for the Russian officials of the power plant.

Police said Chukin Pavel fell sick around 3 am and died on the spot.

Meanwhile, Tolmasoff collapsed at 2 am while getting down from the stairs on the 14th floor of the Green City Residential Building, he was rescued unconscious with the help of police and taken to the Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

The bodies were sent to Pabna General Hospital Morgue for autopsy, said officer-in-charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Asaduzzaman.
