Search Committee Holds Meeting to Sort Proposed Names

The fourth meeting of the search committee formed by the President has started. The meeting may discuss the proposed names of various political parties and organizations in the formation of the EC.

The meeting began at 4:15 pm on Wednesday (February 18) at the Supreme Court's Judges Lounge. Now it is the turn of the search committee to finalize the names of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners. Therefore, it is thought that the names of the persons proposed by the political parties and eminent citizens for the formation of the EC would be reviewed and finalized at the meeting.

Earlier on Tuesday (February 15), Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said the process of proposing 10 names for the post of Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners would begin on Wednesday (February 16).

He said the list of 322 people proposed to the search committee is being checked and selected. Those whose names appear twice have been named once. The names of 10 people will be proposed to the President in a short time.

The search committee headed by Justice Obaidul Hasan of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court sat in a meeting today (Wednesday) with more than three hundred names received from various political parties, organizations and individuals.
