Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur
Razzak said that the price of fine rice has gone up but the price of coarse
rice has not gone up. We are worried about the poor people who work hard. For
them, we are giving rice through OMS. In a few days, rice will be distributed
among 50 lakh poor families at the rate of Tk 10. The government has reduced
taxes on some foods, including edible oil.
He said this while visiting
Bangladesh Rice Research Institute at noon on Saturday (March 12).
The minister said the price of
food grains in the country has risen slightly due to the Ukraine-Russia war but
the government is making every effort to keep the prices at a tolerable level.
Abdur Razzak said, "We are
working to make all agriculture, including fisheries, poultry, and paddy,
scientific and modern, so that agriculture becomes profitable." Under the
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we are working to build a
poverty-free, hunger-free golden Bengal. Bangladesh will soon become a
prosperous developed country.
The minister said work was
underway to include the NBR in the poultry, fish, and dairy industries in the
agricultural farm category instead of the industrial sector.
At the time, the visiting
Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
(FAO) Qu Dongyu, secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture Mohammad Sayedul
Islam, Additional Secretary Ruhul Amin Talukder, Executive Chairman of BARC
Sheikh Mohammad Bakhtiyar, FAO ADG Jung-Jin Kim, Dhan Research Kabir, etc were present
there.
