'Consumption Increased as People's Purchasing Power Increased'

Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam said consumption has increased due to the increased purchasing power of the people. Besides, garbage has also increased.

He said that in the past, many necessities were given in one bag. Now a bag is provided with each item which makes the house dirtier. Naturally, this garbage has become a challenge in management.

The minister said this while addressing a workshop titled 'Safe Sewage Management: What We Should Do' at Dhaka North City Corporation's Nagar Bhaban on Sunday (March 13).

The Minister said that the challenge of waste management is not only in our country but also in other countries of the world. The government is working to address this challenge. Power generation from dirt will start very soon.
