FM Falls Unconscious on Plane, Admitted to CMH

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen is being treated at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH). He was admitted to the hospital on Sunday (March 13) after 3 pm.

He was taken to CMH after arriving at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport on a Turkish Airlines flight from Turkey.

ASI Muiz Sujan, chairman of Palli Shishu Foundation Bangladesh and Dhaka Delta Hospital Limited, brother of the foreign minister, said this to media.

He said the foreign minister had not slept regularly on his way back from Turkey. It was cold in Turkey, high temperatures in Dubai, all of which made him sick. On his way back to Dhaka, he fell unconscious on a Turkish Airlines flight. After initial treatment, he was taken to CMH.

Sujan also said that the doctors had told them that they would inform the next decision regarding the treatment of the foreign minister after keeping him under observation for 48 hours. But now the foreign minister's condition is stable.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen visited the United Arab Emirates on Monday accompanied by the Prime Minister. From there, he arrived in Ankara from the UAE on Friday to attend a roundtable meeting of the Second Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey.

He addressed a roundtable meeting in Ankara on Saturday. In addition, he held three separate bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Austria and Kyrgyzstan on the sidelines.
