The rest of the Napa syrups seized from a pharmacy following the deaths
of two children on Thursday night in Ashuganj Upazila under Brahmanbaria
district were found to be of perfect quality in the tests, said the Directorate
General of Drug Administration (DGDA).
This was stated by the Director-General of DGDA Mohammad Yusuf at a press conference at the
meeting room of the directorate in Mohakhali on Monday (March 14).
He said 8 syrups of the same batch (batch number-32113121) were
seized from the shop. The results were found in 3 of these tests.
At a press conference at the DGDA, the director-general of the directorate, Major General Mohammad
Yusuf, said that no harmful substance was found in the Napa syrup of those three
batches in the sample test.
The DGDA could not test the bottle of syrup from that that the two children were fed.
Yusuf said the bottle from which the two children died after
taking the medicine was taken away by the CID. After receiving the report after
the CID examination, it will be known whether they died after consuming Napa
syrup.
He also said that he was waiting for the autopsy reports of the
two children.
