Abdullah Al-Mamun, director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), said on Friday that security has been beefed up in the capital to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion of holy Shab-e-Barat to be observed tonight, reports media.

He said this while responding to a question of a reporter at a food distribution program for distressed and orphaned children on the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Basila Jamia Islamia Charwashpur Madrasa in Mohammadpur.

“Members of law enforcement agencies will ensure patrolling alongside setting up check posts at different points. A large number of members of law enforcement agencies will remain deployed at important shrines like Baitul Mukarram National Mosque,” he said.

Earlier, DMP imposed a restriction on carrying of all types of explosives, crackers as well as explosion of firecrackers in the capital on the occasion.

RAB Additional Director General (ADG) Colonel Khan Mohammad KM Azad, Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin, RAB-2 Commander Lt. Colonel Abu Naeem Mohammad Talat and senior officials of Basila Jamia Islamia Charwashpur Madrasa, were also present at the program.
