On the Dhaka-Tangail highway, a truck carrying soybean oil
heading to North Bengal overturned with a damaged wheel. The incident took
place at around 11:30 am on Thursday (March 24) in the Ashekpur bypass area of Dhaka-Tangail Bangabandhu Highway.
Although there were no casualties in the accident, the
soybean oil in the truck was later disrupting traffic on the highway.
Truck driver Atowar said the front wheel of the truck burst
when it reached the Ashekpur bypass area of Tangail Bangabandhu Highway on
the way from Chittagong to Naogaon. The truck lost control and overturned on
the highway island.
He also said that the truck had 11 and a half tons of
soybean oil.
Elenga Highway Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Billal Hossain said
arrangements were being made to remove the truck involved in the accident. In
order to keep the traffic flowing normally, sand will be given to all the parts
of the highway where oil has been spilled. In order to keep the highways free
from traffic congestion, all the transports from Dhaka to North Bengal have
been given the opportunity to use the underpass used for three-wheelers for the
time being.
He also said that there was no traffic jam on the highway
due to the accident.
