Double Murder: Police Arrest Main Shooter

Police's detective branch has said they arrested one of the suspected killers of Dhaka city Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu, who was shot dead on Thursday.

"One of the suspected killers in the Tipu murder case has been arrested . . .we will let you know the details later today in a media briefing," Dhaka Metropolitan Police's additional commissioner and DB chief AKM Hafeez Akhter told the media.

DMP spokesman Faruk Hossain earlier revealed the development without naming the suspect.

Tipu was the former general secretary of Motijheel Thana Awami League (AL).

According to the police, important information was acquired by interrogating several suspects involved in the murder incident.

The law enforcement agency is analyzing the CCTV footage of the place of the occurrence and looking into the threat calls Tipu received before his death.

Two persons, including Tipu, were shot to death allegedly by a masked assailant in the Shahjahanpur area in the city.
