CTTC Arrests 4 Hizb ut-Tahrir Men in City

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested four members of the banned militant group Hizb ut-Tahrir from the city's Bangshal and Lalbagh areas.

The arrested are Md Rezwan Parvez, Md Mehedi Hasan Bijoy, Noor Alam Md Sihab Uddin and Abu Al Jinnatul.

Assistant Commissioner (AC), City-Intelligence Analysis Department of CTTC, Md Ariful Hossain Tuhin said that the Interim Mobile Monitoring Cell (IMMC) team found that members of the banned militant organization Hizb ut-Tahrir were carrying out various provocative and aggressive activities in the country through online and offline.

They organized an online conference through facebook page and YouTube channel on Friday (March 18, 2022), he said.

Tuhin said the militant group also held meeting in a secret place to make the conference a success and effective.

They also published provocative and extremist posters and pest at various places in Teacher Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University premises and Bangshal Thana area to visible their presence.

The CTTC official said, on the basis of the information, CTTC members arrested Md Rezwan Parvez, a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir, from a house located at Agamasi Lane of Bangshal Police Station at 11.45 pm on Sunday.

During the raid, a mobile phone, a laptop and various leaflets used for propaganda of the organization were found in his possession.

In a preliminary statement, the detainee said he was an active member of Hizb ut-Tahrir. Later, the police also arrested Md Mehedi Hasan Bijoy, Noor Alam Md Sihab Uddin and Abu Al Jinnatul from a house in Lalbagh area at about 3.25am early today.

Police also recovered mobile phone, laptop, draft constitution of the militant organisation, leaflets, two magazines and others.

Police also produced them to the court seeking ten days remand after filing case with Ramna Police Station.
