Police have arrested Safiullah, who had extramarital affairs
with Rima Begum, in connection with the murder of two children in Ashuganj,
Brahmanbaria. Ashuganj police arrested him from Abdullahpur in Dhaka on Monday
(March 28) at 5:15 pm.
Brahmanbaria Additional Superintendent of Police
(Administration and Finance) Mollah Mohammad Shaheen confirmed the matter and
said Safiullah was arrested in front of a bus counter in Abdullahpur on
the basis of intelligence information. He bought a bus ticket to Rangpur. He is
being brought to Brahmanbaria. Details will be given after interrogation.
Earlier, on March 10, two children of Ismail Hossain alias
Sujan Khan of Durgapur village in Durgapur union of Ashuganj Upazila, Yasin (7)
and Morsalin (5) died mysteriously. At first, the family complained that the
two children, who were suffering from fever, died after being given Napa syrup.
Later, the police investigation revealed that Rima Begum, the mother of two
children, killed them by feeding them poisonous sweets given by her boyfriend and
rice mill worker Sardar Safiullah.
Police arrested Rima on the night of March 16. Ismail
Hossain, a father of two children, filed a murder case against Rima and
Safiullah.
