Opposition lawmakers have said that the current education system has collapsed. They also remarked that the nation is constantly declining due to the low standard of the education system. They also said that the number of educated unemployed is increasing in the country.

Opposition Jatiya Party MPs Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Fakhrul Imam, Rustam Ali Faraji, BNP MPs Harunur Rashid and Rumin Farhana said this while opposing the proposal to pass the Pirojpur Bill of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology on Tuesday (March 29) afternoon.

BNP reserved seat MP Rumin Farhana said, "We have passed 157 university bills with today's bill." But the lack of real international quality of education has only increased the unemployment rate.

Highlighting a statistic, she said that at present, the number of unemployed with MA pass is 34 percent, BA pass unemployed with 37 percent, HSC with 27 percent and SSC with unemployed with 28 percent. Educated unemployed are running around 66 percent of the total educated unemployed in the country. Of which only three percent have arranged employment by doing some work on their own initiative. And only 21 percent of the educated unemployed in the country got jobs. Statistics show that 66% of college and university graduates are unemployed. They do not want to do substandard work. But when they go abroad, they are earning money by doing any work. He called for creating such mentality in our education system.

Harunur Rashid said that at present the quality of education has completely broken down. Moreover, in the last 10 to 15 years, there has been massive corruption and money laundering in the recruitment of teachers and staff in schools and colleges. Harun also claimed that five to seven lakh taka has been spent on the recruitment of office sweepers recently. He called for the introduction of international standard education system instead of traditional education.

Fakhrul Imam said that private universities manage their finances arbitrarily. If it is not stopped, corruption will increase and the education system will collapse. He said there should be a policy for all universities. It is seen that different policies are being followed for different universities. If these are not stopped, the education system will collapse and the education trade will increase.

JaPa Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu said, “Our school and university infrastructures are very beautiful. But the education system is dysfunctional. Teachers are not well trained. Most of the children who are leaving school and university are unemployed. He called for the introduction of work-oriented education system. He suggested appointing a lawyer to expedite the ongoing case in the court regarding the attachment of MPs to the school-college governing board. JaPa presidium member Rustam Ali Faraji said a survey should be conducted with UGC to assess the quality of all universities.
