Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has said that the reputation of the Election Commission is being tarnished due to some people. So everyone has to be careful.

He said that in the name of service, we should not behave like lords, we should act as servants of the people.

He made the remarks at a workshop at the Electoral Training Institute in the capital on Tuesday (March 29) morning on ways to resolve issues related to obtaining national identity cards. The workshop was organized by the National Identity Card Registration Wing.

"We have a moral decline in all respects," the CEC said. "Now, we need to lobby for everything. Officials should act as servants of the people and refrain from behaving like lords. We have to accept ourselves as servants of the people with our hearts."

"Our reputation is being tarnished for some people," he said. "If the officials of the Election Commission do not perform their duties efficiently and honestly, then the entire Election Commission will have to take responsibility for that notoriety. This issue needs to be monitored."
