8 Workers Burnt in N'ganj Factory Fire

Eight workers were burnt as a fire broke out at a chemical factory in Narayanganj's Roopganj Upazila on Tuesday night.

Injured Bayazid, Rokon, Khademul, Sajib, Ripon, Mehedi, Rassel, and Akalu are currently undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.

Of the injured, the condition of three are very critical, said Tanharul Islam, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence (Sonargaon zone).

The fire broke out at Lily Chemical Co. in Golakandail area around 10:30 pm.

Getting information, three units rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under their control around midnight, the Fire Service official said.

Tanharul Islam said they assumed that the fire might have been originated from an electric short circuit during the storm.
