The DMP Commissioner has directed
to take action against any police station if they do not file a case despite
allegations of snatching, theft or robbery.
Dhaka Metropolitan Detective
Police Joint-Commissioner of Police (Admin and DB-South) Mohammad Mahbub Alam
said this in response to a question at a press conference held at DMP's media
center here on Saturday (April 9).
Mahbub Alam said that usually during Ramadan and before any festival like Eid, robbery, dacoity, theft and molom-party and snatching gang become active. The DMP commissioner has special instructions to prevent them. According to the instructions, the intelligence department launched a special operation to prevent their violence.
He said the DB's Ramna and Lalbagh divisions conducted special operations in Lalbagh, Hazaribagh and Newmarket areas last Wednesday and Friday and arrested 27 members of the gang.
He added that 20 of the arrested
have multiple cases against them, including theft, robbery, preparation for
robbery and drug trafficking. 22 of them have been sent to jail in different
cases. Iron rods, knives, knives, anesthetic tablets and ointments were seized
from them.
In response to a question, the detective
officer said that theft of digital devices is increasing in Dhaka. Especially
those who are thieves and snatchers, they run away on the streets with mobiles
and gold ornaments. Most of them are drug addicts.
